About This Project

This 1962 split-level midcentury ranch was rescued from it’s 8-foot ceilings and segregated living/dining/kitchen spaces in 2014. A 32-foot LVL (laminated veneer lumber) beam helped open the entire 900 SF entry level to a breathtaking volume of natural light. The kitchen boasts modern walnut cabinets with white quartz countertops and operable windows for the backsplash. A custom built wood slat wall separates the entry from dining and complements the original white oak hardwood floors. The fireplace was re-built from existing “norman” brick that was salvaged from exterior improvements and the addition of approximately 250 SF of windows and sliding glass doors on the Northern facade. Other exterior work included western red cedar siding, board and batten cement fiber board, and a custom midcentury modern inspired entry door.
